Humics are organic matter containing a range of acids known as humic acids. This organic matter has been shown to improve plant growth anf health and the health of beneficial soil micro-organisms.
NOURISH ORGANIC FERTILISERS, ALL PURPOSE, CITRUS, FLOWER and VEGETABLE all contain humics to improve the organic matter (hummus) in soils which then benefit soil micro-organisms in the soil and soil condition. The breakdown of humics releases nutrients which can be taken up by plants.
Low soil organic matter is known to be bad for soil condition and plant growth and health. Humics are a group of humic acids that are broken down by soil micro-organisms slowly releasing nutrients that plants can uptake. There is also some evidence that plants maybe able to utilise the larger molecules directly and this may have benefits to the plants.
The macro nutrients that plants need in relatively large quantities are nitrogen (N), sulphur (S), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg). But plants also need trace elements in small quantities for healthy growth. Trace elements include; iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), boron (B), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), molybdenum (Mo) and humic acids.
