The Kiwicare Predator Free Story
At Kiwicare, we’re passionate about protecting our native species. So, we’re on a mission to make New Zealand predator free by 2050. To ensure our collective backyard is filled with birdsong. And to make New Zealand a better place to live.
Why? Because as animal and plant pest experts we see ourselves as offering guardianship to our collective backyards, and continuously striving to respect and conserve it.
By putting knowledge, insight and technical know-how at the heart of what we do, we’ve created safe, sustainable, effective solutions for removing the plant, insect and animal pests that invade our habitats and threaten our biodiversity, all while keeping our native species healthy and letting nature thrive.
Ultimately, it means we can all enjoy our beautiful backyard for generations to come.
Every year in New Zealand, around 25 million native birds are killed by introduced predators. It’s a tragic and alarming statistic. Many of our native birds are threatened, and if we don’t act, some may be lost forever, along with their beautiful bird songs. And that’s why predator control is so important. Fortunately, it’s something that we can all do something about. And this pack is the perfect place to start.
Kiwicare is donating 100% of profits from the Predator Free Pack to Predator Free NZ Trust
Here’s what you’ll find in your Kiwicare Predator Free NZ Pack.
It features everything you’ll need to keep your backyard predator free, including:
- Rat and Mice Stations
- NO Rat and Mice Bait Blocks
- A Rodent Detector Card
- Manuka Tree Seeds
- Victor Rat and Stoat Trap
- Free Rat & Stoat Tunnel when you register with Kiwicare Predator Free
You’ll notice we’ve included Manuka Tree Seeds. That’s because planting trees can help deliver huge benefits to our environment. They enhance our beautiful landscapes and provide habitats for our native species to thrive. We encourage the planting of native species to improve biodiversity, landscape restoration and provide wildlife habitats.
These particular seeds, known by the Māori name ‘Kahikatoa’, are also commonly called “Tea Tree”. It’s a small tree that’s not too overwhelming in a garden, and a group of them can quickly form the backbone of a small woodland – the perfect environment to help native birds to thrive, which is what we’re all about.
Remember, making New Zealand predator free starts one backyard at a time. And we’re grateful you’ve chosen to use this pack in yours.
