Bamboo moth caterpillars feed on various species of bamboo.
Identify the problem
The bamboo moth caterpillars are a stricking yellow-orange with black spots. The caterpillars have urticating hairs that can cause a skin rash accompanied by a burning sensation so handling the caterpillars should be avoided. The caterpillars can occur in high numbers, however, they can be quite rare between outbreaks.
Solutions
On and in buildings
- Control the caterpillars with NO Bugs Super applied to surfaces in and around the property where the caterpillars are found.
On bamboo or other plants
- If you find them on bamboo and other plants outside you can spray Organic Caterpillar Bio-Control to control the caterpillars.
